13.07.2010

The Testo group is extended by the company "Matter Engineering AG"

Measurement technology is the field of expertise of the Lenzkircher company Testo AG: Measuring instruments from Testo are used worldwide as tools for environmental protection. The high-tech manufacturer has now taken a strategic step into the field of dust particle measurerment, and has acquired an innovative company from Switzerland. Since the 1st of July, "Matter Engineering AG" is a 100% subsidiary of Testo AG, under the new name "Matter Aerosol AG".

The topic of dust has great significance for the future development of the Testo AG as an "environmental company". Matter, whose headquarters are in Wohlen in Switzerland, is a technological leader in the field of measurement technology for nanoparticles in exhaust gases and ambient air, and brings along a high level of innovative power as well as a good network in this field. "We see great potential for the future on the dust particle measurement market“, explains Burkart Knospe, CEO of Testo AG. "The acquisition of Matter is an important step towards the consolidation of know-how in this area."

Testo has been already cooperating closely with the specialist from the neighbouring country in research since the middle of 2009. "Matter Aerosol AG" will be integrated into the organizational structure of Testo AG, however the company' headquarters, with its 16 staff members, will remain in Wohlen in Switzerland. "Matter Aerosol has a high level of innovative power, and is recognized worldwide as an expert in the field of nanoparticle measurement", explains Matter Aerosol's Managing Director Dr. Markus Kasper. "The timing of this cooperation is perfect, our development work falls on very fertile ground at Testo. We are delighted that in the future we will be able to distribute our measuring instruments under the strong brand name Testo."

Testo AG is a world market leader for portable and stationary measurement technolgy. The company strives to be a pacemaker on the market and a technological leader. In 2009 alone, Testo invested roughly 17 percent of its worldwide turnover in Research & Development. "Technology-driven acquisitions are also conceivable in the future," explains Burkart Knospe "in order for us to be able to postion ourselves strategically well in important new fields." In 2009, for the first time since the company was founded, Testo was forced to cope with a slight decrease in turnover of roughly two percent. The consolidated turnover was 158 million Euros. For the first half of 2010, the company has again achieved the accustomed growth. The Testo group is intended to grow by about 15 percent this year.
