Lenzkirch – Students from Shanghai were the guests of the measurement technology manufacturer from Lenzkirch last Friday, and were able to get to know the high-tech company and its measuring instruments. The young guests from China visited Testo in the run-up to the Expo in Shanghai, where the company will be represented at the booth of the city of Freiburg. The city, situated in the Breisgau valley, is presenting itself under the motto "Green City". Within this framework, Testo hopes to sensitize the public to more environmental consciousness and to awaken enthusiasm for environmental technology.
In the run-up to the show the young students from China have been travelling around the Freiburg region, in order to get to know not only the companies who are taking part in the fair, but also German culture. During the exhibition from the 1st of May to the 31st of October 2010, they will be looking after the city of Freiburg's booth, and with it, the presentations of the companies and partners. In order to be optimally prepared, and to set the mood, they are travelling the country they will be representing at the Expo.
Testo AG, who will be presenting measuring instruments for environmental technology – in particular thermal imagers – at the exhibition, showed the guests how committed they are to the topic of the environment. Many of the Testo measuring instruments, such as emission measuring instruments or thermal imagers, are used to protect the environment and its resources. The Chinese government, for example, used emission measuring instruments from Testo before the Olympic Games 2008 in Beijing, in order to control the emissions from power stations, ensuring clean air during the sporting event. In addition to a tour of the company, Testo product managers presented the measuring instruments to the young people and explained how they work. A game allowed them to try out the new thermal imagers for themselves, and learn how to use them.
"During their visit, we want the students to sense the dynamics and innovative power which characterizes our company", says Testo CEO Burkart Knospe. "They can pass on this feeling to the visitors at the Expo 2010, and make a contribution to the success of Testo's presentation at the fair".
Different countries and organizations are presenting themselves at the Expo 2010 und the motto "Better City, Better Life". This central theme is intended to reflect people's wish for a better life in the cities of the future. Above all, concepts for the long-term and environmentally conscious development of cities are required. The German pavilion at the Expo 2010 is named "Balancity" – a combination of words intended to convey the idea of the balance of a city. German cities, organizations and companies are in turn assembled under its roof.
With its ambitious environmental policies and a political and civil commitment to renewable energy sources, the city of Freiburg has made a name for itself worldwide as a “Green City”, and will certainly make a contribution to a successful Expo 2010.
